While I don't have the expertise myself, maybe some of you gurus could create a post that the admins could sticky on this forum that gives the most asked about cameras pros, ceons, features, "best for these uses", and common retail prices.

Might avoid so many posts about the cameras. Then allow replies so that people can throw in their 2 cents about each model if they want.

    Best,

    Brian

I have thought about this several times. The main problem with it is that new cameras are updated often in the consumer marketplace so recommendations become outdated really fast. In the pro business everything is routinely announced during NAB which happens in the early part of the year.

Nonetheless its a good idea since there are so many posts about it. If anything it should be added to the Wiki.

For the average Joe that wants an easy to use camera to shoot beautiful looking footage in a compact package, the HV20 by Canon rocks.

Stunning footage. Easy to use. I've never shot in 24p.
