Unfortunately, the MBA is significantly thinner than a standard 13" laptop, so you won't get a good fit with those cases. I tried a 13" Timbuk2 Quickie and it was too big for the MBA for my taste. The MBA flop around in it.

So if you want a good fit, either get a bag or case that's specific to the MBA, or use a sleeve that's made for the MBA inside another bag. The MBA in a sleeve will probably fit a pocket designed for a standard 13" laptop. This give your more options as there are more bags made for a generic 13". Furthermore, since your MBA is in a sleeve, all you are looking for is a bag with a pocket to fit the sleeve, not necessary additional padding, so addition to a number of typical (boring) computer bags, you can use any bag with the right size pocket like a nice backpack with a hydration pocket.

3. Be-ez LA robe Air 13

http://www.be-ez.com/la-robe-air-black-addict.html

This is by far the most protective sleeve of the 3.

......Unlike neoprene, the memory foam stuff that it's made out of is pretty light yet appears to be able to absorb more shock at least several times better than the neoprene material for the same thickness. I could tell by putting my hand inside it and pounding on it.

.....The bottom line is, if you want protection, I can't think of a better sleeve than the Be-ez La robe.

....... On the other hand, if you decide to go with a neoprene type sleeve, I think the Be-ez la robe is cheaper than most name brand neoprene case, looks better, and is many times as protective from my fist pounding experiment :)

Completely agree.

I've recommended the Be.ez LA Robe sleeve in every sleeve thread over the past 4-6 weeks, but I doubt I've convinced anybody has considered it.

Most people seem to want something pretty, and that's it. Buy a nice sleeve if you want, as long as it's going to be carried around in a bag with a laptop compartment! Mine goes into a canvas "man-bag" with no padding or protection. The LA Robe is the only thing protecting my laptop from all bumps, and that includes when I just plop my bag on a table, or the floor.

And I tried punching the material as well. I put my hand inside the sleeve, pounded on top of the sleeve with my other hand, and can barely feel a thing. :)

There is actually at least one bag in this list that is specifically for the air

Can't decide if I want the LA Robe or the BookBook. Would the BookBook be worthelss if all I'm going to be doing is carrying it in a backpack? Also, I'm not one to attract attention to myself lol.

Also, anyone know where to buy the LA Robe in Canada?

I ended up going with the Pack & Smooch. FYI - you can order it from Amazon instead of Etsy or their home site. It actually ends up being a little cheaper and as an added bonus you can use any Amazon credit you may have.

I asked Hard Graft that on Twitter. They are coming out with a new case specifically for the new 13" Macbook Air in September.

The leather 13" case will fit the Air but it won't be a tight fit.
And the Heritage felt case doesn't even come in 13".

I can't wait until September so I'm going with the Pack and Smooch case.

Thanks for this. I ended up putting my 13" Hard Graft on Ebay and getting a Pack/Smooch.

Can you try putting the MBA in the Be.ez LA Robe and hammering it. We need definantive proof it will protect.

I love the robe also. I bought one for my 11 inch.

This is funny. I looked at this and realize that I have one of these for my Wacom Bamboo tablet.

That case is nice. It has a sort of 'hardish' shell with memory foam interior.
Very tuff and light.

I think i'm going to get one of these for the Air (matching set....I know  )

For the guys just a heads up: These come with pink interiors , and I almost bought one like this as I didn't see it. Don't want pink anywhere near me (except on a women).

I'll stop now.....:)

Honestly, this looks great: http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Elite...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1312996904&sr=1-2

It was suggested by another user over in the 11" case thread. It makes me regret getting my Speck neoprene sleeve. Has anyone gotten this and can comment on it?

I have one from a different seller (same thing, basically: Cheap China clones (not leather). However, they are very nice, for pleather.

Give it a shot. Not a lot of money. But, you had better like vinyl. :D

The neoprene sleeve I have was a gift from someone, so I'm inclined to use it, unfortunately. Where/how did you get yours? Could your provide a link? Perhaps I can get one down the line after I've worn down the sleeve I have now, or something. >__<

Help!

I am looking for a sleeve as well for my 13 MBP. A friend of mine has a 15 MBP and has a case by "builtny Platform" which is only made for the 15' models and it is the exact case I'm looking for. I want a case that obviously protects with padding but also can be used while still in sleeve like this one. If anyone knows of any cases other then the Thule 13' on the apple site please let me know!

This is the builtny platform case that is ONLY MADE FOR 15' MBP!

The Thule case looks like this and if I can't find anything else I'm going to go with it but I would like something else that isn't so ugly!

Har Har. Mine was bring yellow inside. They have color combinations.

Another thing about the robe is that the zipper is offset, with deep padded lips underneath it. Even though the zipper teeth are plastic, your mac doesn't go near them. And when you zip it up, the offset creates a clearance all around. Ingenious; subtle.

BUMP Someone has to be able to help!!!!1

I just got this case and I am LOVING it:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ZAAFJ2

Only $20 too! It fits very nicely, and the insides are made of some sort of faux velvet that feels comfortable on my wrists. You can leave it on the computer too since it stays on when you open and close it. For this price, it's a great intermediary case while I wait for something better (but this case might actually do as the best case for a while).

I have one of these for my iPad and it's great.

Be-ez LA Robe: Tight fit or lots of extra space?

Be-ez LA Robe owners: Is this case a tight fit for the 13" MBA? It is hard to see the actual fit from the videos on YouTube.

I am looking for something with a comfortable fit (not too tight to use easily), but not something so big that the MBA can slide around.

Thanks.

Scott B.

Yes, I got the one made specifically for the 13" MBA and it fits really well. It's not as stretchy as neoprene, not as tight as a typical leather case, so it slips in easily.

If you want to be critical, the MBA is wedge shape - thicker near the hinge and thinner at the front. The Be-ez LA Robe is the same on both side, so there is a bit of extra room on one side, unlike the Hammerhead leather case I has where the fit is tight. But it's not a bad fit at all, and it save you the trouble of having to figure out which side line up the MBA thin or thick side when you put the thing into the sleeve.
