Seeing the topic of best console made me think what everyones favorite boot screen is.

Top 3 please (feel free to list least favorite as well)

#1 Gamecube
#2 Dreamcast
#3 Sega CD US (this is a very memorable one for me as well)

Dreamcast - Love that swirl...
Jaguar - Grrr...
Xbox (first one)

For handheld, definitely the original Sony PSP... I remember playing Ridge Racer on that for many hours. I love the female voice over and that large 4.3 inch screen at the time.

By faaaaaAAAAAAaaaar the PS3. Loved the orchestral tune up. One of my favourite sounds in real life too.

Then I'd say the Wii. Just because it was so quick.

Finally the GBA! Brrrrmmmmmm-ding!

That always reminds me of the very beginning of Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction! Awesome!

I also like the PS1 and GameCube startup. :)

I really liked the PS2's, the cool swirly smoke and then the music/tune, mostly for nostalgic reasons. Oh and one of the Nintendo handhelds. For some reason I can't remember which one it was. Wasn't there one where it just did a "brinnggggggg" sort of sound. Maybe it was when it was going into a game. I can't remember. I want to see GBA or DS but I could be wrong.

Original GameBoy perhaps?

The shorter the better. At first the boot screens are neat. I loved the Saturn's boot screen, but I didn't want to see it every dang time i wanted to fire up NiGHTS into Dreams or Shining Force 3 or whatnot. That's what I love about the Xbox 1. If you use the low-power sleep mode for "off", turning it on just signs you into Live and you're right back to your game.
