B&H ended up being a better deal than govt/edu Apple discount price, for me at least. B&H photo was $244 but free shipping and no tax, Apple discount store price was $239 but then 20 bucks in tax brought it to $259.

Did you bought the automatic registration version or got the code over the mail? I just purchased today the automatic registration online and wonder how fast does B&H will do the registration, so that it shows under my equipment through Apple.

I did automatic. Got it activated in about 12 hours.

I wouldn't get Apple Care, If I accidentally damage it myself I will pay to fix it. It is by law that manufacturers warranty is 6 years here in the UK

I'd be careful with that strategy, as far as I'm aware you have to prove it has an inherent fault, present at the time of manufacture. An HDD failing after 2 and half years, they probably won't honour it beyond the one year.

Agreed, that six year UK "warranty" is way way different from the protection provided by Applecare.

If you have Applecare Apple are very ready to put you right, sometimes beyond expectations. I had an older MBP replaced by the latest version once, much to my surprise.
