    Hey guys,

I just purchased an 11" MacBook Air and I'm loving it! I'm using it with the 24" Apple cinema display and was wondering what some of you are using as a stand. There doesn't seem to be much available to accommodate the smaller size. I'm currently using an mStand that I had from owning my just recently sold MBP. I'm considering a TwelveSouth BookArc, but I'm not sure if it will fit the 11" Air. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm looking for something that's not only aesthetically pleasing, but also something with a smaller footprint that will free up some desk space. Please share your thoughts, ideas, opinions, and solutions! Thanks!

Can't be much help since I just leave it on the desk. What do you want the stand for? Are you trying to get the display the same height as the monitor? I know people in the past for MBPs used stands to help with cooling. But the 11" doesn't need this.

What's wrong with the mStand? I have one and it's awesome.

bookarc looks nicest by far and will match perfectly with your cinema display.

according to 12south's website, they'll mail you for free the new 11.6" macbook air stand insert that fits better than the stock inserts, when it's released.

I'm using the book arc for ipad (not the macbook one) and it fits the 11" without a problem.

The mStand is indeed great - the only thing for me is that it occupies too much space on my desk. Besides, when using the 11.6" air, the added screen real estate that the air offers relative to my cinema display is quite minimal. Thus, I just prefer leaving the air in clam shell mode and tucked away.

My sediment exactly. I loved my mStand when I had my MacBook Pro but now that I have my 11" MBA, it simply occupies too much desk space. I don't ever see myself needing the extra screen real estate of the MBA, so for me something like the BookArc would be ideal.

Aboo, would you mind posting a pic with your 11" Air in the iPad BookArc? I called the TwelveSouth people and the rep told me that the BookArc for iPad would not fit the 11-inch so I'm curious to see how it looks. Thanks!

Do you insert it with the hinge side down... such that the apple logo right side up? Or... do you insert it with the tapered end down, with the apple logo inverted?

It seems that Twelve South designs their other book arc models so the hinge end of the laptop is in the stand... which some people claim is not great for airflow cooling. I don't know if it makes a difference.

No problem. I'll be out of town on Tuesday and will be in close proximity to an Apple store, so I might pick one up depending on how it looks with the MBA. Can you tell me if the unit is sturdy? Does the MacBook Air fit pretty snug or is there a lot of room? I don't want to have to worry about it falling off my desk lol.

Gotcha! But are you sure you folks want to use the Air with the lid closed? I know it runs super cool but still I'd be concerned for any screen damage due to sudden overheating. Just sayin...

Guys you have caught my interest here as I am using a 11 MBA with a new 27" iMac

Firstly I was looking for a stand, and then I see you make this comment of clam shell mode???? What the chuff is that? lol :(

Also - what resolution are you using, I think mine is default so everything is well, quite huge (Who says size does not matter), but I am interested to see if i can better this?

Also - if clam shell mode means closed (I assume it does), then can you still use USB cables connected to the MBA?

I have the same question. Why not just leave it on the desk next to the monitor?
