As there is no Thunderbolt, I will need to move on from my beloved 27" Thunderbolt Display with 2560-by-1440 resolution. What is the best external 27" display to connect to the Macbook? Would like to keep a high resolution and the 27". For office work. Many thanks for suggestions.

There are many threads asking the same, but I still haven't found an answer, and I would like to buy one myself. Though I would prefer 22-24 inch.

Thank you! That seems indeed an excellent choice which I will then probably go for.

Any insights if a 4k display is a viable options, too? Worried about the 30HZ and also which scaled solution it would then show on the display, as I do not want the font size to go down, only sharper if I would go for 4k.

I personally would rather have non-4k at 60hz. 30hz would drive me crazy.

As there is no Thunderbolt, I will need to move on from my beloved 27" Cinema Display with 2560-by-1440 resolution.

- The Cinema Display doesn't use a Thunderbolt connection. I'm guessing you meant Thunderbolt Display? If not, you can use your Cinema Display just fine with the rMB with an adapter.

The U2715H linked to above is excellent, as is its 25" cousin U2515H - which is much cheaper.

You are absolutely right - I so far used the Thunderbolt display. I assume the Cinema Display is not even available any more - at least I can not find it. So the U2715H then. And also need the Macbook, which is still standing on "preparing for shipment" ;)

Why do you need to find one if you already have a 27" cinema display?

Edit:

I get it now, you have the thunderbolt display. It's a shame the thunderbolt display is not compatible.

I think a 4K display would be pushing the MacBook too much. I would advise against getting that display.

Does anyone know how the 27" Cinema Display would compare to the Dell Ultrasharp U2715H?

Would I notice a big difference in day-to-day usage?

Thanks!
