I've been using Speed Download for years but have just found out that it's to blame for some problems I've been having with Safari (files downloading as .dms).

    Anyone have any recommendations?

I'm sorry to inform you that Leopard's download folder is not a download manager.

    DownThemAll

I specifically use Firefox because of the DownThemAll extension. I can't recommend it enough if you happen to use Firefox.
