best for syncing contacts w/iPhone? Outlook, Yahoo, Google, Windows address books?

I just got an iPhone 3G and had the AT&T store copy over all (in theory) my contacts from my Sprint Motorola Razr V3m over to my iPhone's SIM then import them. Alas, I found a lot of missing info, probably due to SIMs being very limited in what each entry can hold.

Example: I had home and mobile # for someone, but only the home # made it over and got marked as mobile on the iPhone.

So, rather than manually fixing and typing on the iPhone, I'd rather do it on the computer and sync it.

iTunes for Windows gives the choices of address books for Yahoo, Google, Windows and Outlook. I'd imagine there could be some field mapping issues w/some one or more of them.

I don't need anything too fancy (don't care about addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.). It just needs to have the right names, numbers and phone # mappings. It should also be reliable and be able to handle a few contacts w/o last names.

Look in to NuevaSync for over-the-air syncing.

It syncs with your Google contacts as far as I'm aware.

It doesn't need to be over the air. From looking at their site, I don't think I'd want to be dependent on them. They're a small company that might charge in the future.

I just need to sync when connected via USB and have an easy means of editing contacts on my PC since I can type way faster on a real keyboard.

What program do you us on you PC for email ?

If you use Outlook I would say use this to sync contacts also
If you use Outlook Express then use Windows Address Book

Yahoo/Google are handy if you want to access from other places, but if you only want to access the data on your home pc/iPhone then one of the above should be best

    none

At work, I use Outlook w/Exchange server but I really don't care about syncing w/that, esp. since I'm syncing against my iTunes library on my home machine.

At home, I use no email client. I used web based email only for personal email, mainly Gmail and to a lesser extent, Hotmail. POP3 and IMAP clients for the PC are just so yesterday and pointless for me.
