I'm putting together a collection of short video files for someone, all they have are dvd video discs. When using handbrake to rip the dvds (his original stuff, nothing illegal) what's the best format to transcode it to to work with Final Cut Pro? I know FCP works with many formats, but what would give me the least amount of rendering time? Thanks!

That worked out fine. But now I have no audio. Guess I need to learn how to do that as well with MPEG Stream Clip.
