I heard pdanet wasn't good. anyone know any better ones that are free?
None free that I know.
TetherMe is the cheapest
I don't know much about jailbreak based tethering apps, but if there is one that exists that somehow enables the native iOS solution, that would be ideal. I use that and it works perfectly.
Pdanet has been working flawlessly for me for tethering my Wifi only iPad to my iPhone 5. Free is a very good price.
You heard wrong. PDAnet is great, I have been using it for years. Like most JB apps, there can be a little bit of downtime when new versions of iOS come out and the new JB is released.
When this new 6.1 JB was released it was a few days before I could use PDAnet wirelessly, but they updated the app for iOS 6 and it's back to normal.
That is how tetherme works
PDANet is free.
It looks like the free version is CrippleWare. It blocks SSL and interrupts your connections.
Whatever you do, don't buy MyWi. It's expensive and buggy.
Pdanet free is good for basic web browsing, but doesn't work well for secure connections. You'll need to pay for the full app for secure stuff. I think it's $10 for the full version, which is cheap considering it doesn't use the lazy method of using sprint TETHERING APNs...tisk tisk.
