Best game for 8-year-old niece & her uncle?

My 8-year-old niece wants me to buy a fun game we can both play together from the App Store. I don't play games and I have no idea what where to start. Any suggestions?

Um. eRondeau, Grand Theft Auto is a highly controversial, violent, and explicit series. Xe89 is not being serious.

If you use google chrome, you can get Angry Birds for Chrome. It's not as fun with a mouse as it is with touch, but it's what I did before my iPhone.

Or if you could find My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, that's a really fun yet frustrating game. I play it on my iPhone. Not sure if you can play it on a laptop, but the game maker is Gameloft.

Definitely NOT grand theft auto.
