I've been trying to figure out the best applications to do this before my iphone comes in. Does anyone have experience with pushmail? I can't do the exchange thing because I already have an exchange account that I need to use for work.

You can have more than one Exchange account on the iPhone now.

You can have multiple exchange email accounts on your iphone with OS 4 and greater.

You can also use the google mobile app for push alerts.

If you want to customize the sound the push notification makes instead of the generic beep, you can use IM+. This will work with gmail, aol mail, msn mail, and and many other accounts that have instant messaging.

I've been using gpush for a few months now and it seems to be working fine for me. I've not noticed any emails where I've not gotten a pop-up notification. There is supposed to be an update soon that will include quiet hours and the option to auto launch the native iPhone mail app.

I've not tried the others so I can't comment on the pro and cons relative to the others.

I used to use Gpush since the end of 2010, when they stopped their service for good. How are you still using it?? I even got an email from their team apologizing!

Also, I know you can set up push notifications from Google mobile app, but is there a way to have some popup message notification for email?

    I miss Gpush ;(
