I am getting a iPhone 6S Plus in Early December. I have been using Apple's EarPods for awhile now, so I think it's time for a change. What are the best sounding headphones for pop music that cost around $250 or less? I had the beats solo 2 in mind. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

V-MODA M-100, 100%. I spent many hours trying to find the best headphones. Listen to me :). They are it for under $250.

Audio-Technica in general make great cans, as do Denon, AKG and Sennheiser. As stated earlier in the thread, just stay away from anything Beats or Bose and you'll likely be fine.

I second that about the Bose. I am NOT an audiophile so I just got the Bose that are sold at Apple stores. They actually feel a bit cheap in construction and my first pair that a gave to my fiancee a few years ago wore out very quick.

If you want big, closed-type under US$200 headphones, I'd recommend these over Beats:

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro - under US$100 - sound is an acquired taste and can be tight on ones head, but great isolation and high sensitivity.
Sony MDR-7506 - under US$100 - bright with more than ample bass, just like pop music.
Audio-Technica ATH-M50x - about US$170 - gentle and refined, but less isolation than others here.
Sennheiser HD 380 PRO - under US$200 - sounds smoother and not as vise-like as the 280, but the same great isolation and high sensitivity.
Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro - under US$200 - haven't tried this myself, but have heard great things about it.

Another thing is that all these models have been around for a while, and disposables like ear pads and cables are readily available.

Highly subjective just as "best" is on any topic. You really need to listen to the options to determine what you think are best for you.

I had the beats solo 2 in mind.
Why? What about them sounds like the would be best suited to you?

Have you looked any prior discussions on headphones?
