Best inexpensive ethernet laser printer for my Mac?

I've bought a Samsung one and it only cost me $70 brand new from Best Buy! Laser printers rock! Just a curious question though.... in the longrun...do they print out more (monochrome) papers than ink printers?

I am trying to decide which printer to get, either the Hp laserjet 1020 or 1022 (price is only $30 different, so not really part of the decision)... The hp site says that the 1020 is not mac compatible, but I have been reading many reviews online saying that you can download the driver meant for the 1022. Does anyone use either of these printers with their mac, or know which one is better/works better on Mac? Like or dislike these printers?

I have the 1012. This is the predecessor to the 1020, so I can't speak to driver issues, but...

I love the 1012. So cheap (can be had at Office Max for $130 on sale or after rebate, quite often), works fast, is quiet, and really really inexpensive to use. 2 or 3 pennies a side, actually.

A great consumer monochrome printer, imho. I can't wait till home color lasers become this good and cheap.

I have the brother 7420N (or something about that number). Built-in networking, which is far better than a stand-alone print server. Works fine. Connection sometimes drops, but I think that's my router settings. Easy to get going again. Faxes, copies, prints, from my mac and wife's PC. Scans too, even to Mac. Cost about $300, after a rebate (that of course took months to get). It's not a thing of beauty, and doesn't feel very solid. But it does the job. You could spend twice as much on the equivalent HP. Not sure you'd get twice the value, though.
