If you have both, then you need to really ask yourself which one you like better, and which one you want to keep. Obviously I own a 11” so I’m gonna vote for that, but that’s me being biased 100% of the time lol! It seems the 11” iPad is small enough, and large enough to strike a good balance kinda like the 10.5” iPad Pro too.

I dunno, I say 11” iPad. You can bring it with you if you ever needed to. But for being a primary home use iPad. Then a 11” is the clear winner over iPad mini 5.

But, it cost half as much too? I dunno. Tough choice I guess.

Thats what I mean, I feel like the 11 is nice, the bigger font I do enjoy. It’s more...do I need it? I have an Air 3 from work so I didn’t want to go that route due to redundancy. Tough choice...price isn’t really the issue I got the pro on sale from Best Buy so the $275 more...

Then the 11” is the way to go.

4GB of ram, 120Hz display, gaming at 120fps is very fun, much more powerful GPU and CPU. Not that you may need all of this.

I have not had any bending issues and I’m 100% happy with it.

Pro 11, by a mile! Overkill should keep you futureproof for a few years and while I love the mini in general - all screen is so much better

I have the 11" and although I have similar uses like the OP (in addition to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video and messaging), I also will not need to upgrade my iPad for quite sometime.

I used to have the Mini 4 and it was fantastic to travel with. My 11" primarily stays at home unless I'm traveling. But I do like and appreciate the bigger size, especially when reading NYT articles.

Yes, YMMV.

In my case, ever since I got a Plus-sized phone, I haven't been enamoured by the size of the iPad mini.

I really like the 10.5" I have now, and the 11" is even better. Size is very good for surfing and reading documents, and is decent for document markup.

For reading articles and for document markup, the 12.9" is even better, but I find the 12.9" is too awkward to handhold and carry around. (I have small hands.)

I carry the 10.5" with me a lot. I would carry a 12.9" around a lot less.

If you’re not going to take it out then I’d go with the 11 inch pro. I use my 10.5 inch pro at home and my mini when I’m outside.

I use an 11” when I’m in bed. A mini when I’m on the toilet. A 10.5 while watching telly and a 12.9” at work. Loving the variety.

Thank you for all your replies! I decided to keep the 11”!

The 11” iPad Pro is a little beast. Great choice. I’m enjoying the size of mine, and every now and then I’ll use my sons 6th gen 9.7” and I think that’s probably the smallest I’d ever go with an iPad. But, I could see my self using a iPad mini 5 as a phone replacement because iPhones are just so expensive.

I’m loving my ipad pro 11 inch so much!
I use it mainly to browse internet, social media, watch movies and tv shows from the comfort of my bed
As soon as I get home, I put my iphone xs to the side and do everything on my ipad!

I even bought my ipad a little pillow from amazon :) Its my little comfort animal

I've owned the mini and I now have the 10.5 pro and love the larger form factor. It really is nice to watch videos or read comics on the larger display vs. the mini. If I were to do it over again, I would still buy the pro. I only use it at home, for consumption, though I do at times bring it into work for various tasks.

My wife is looking to get a new iPad this week to replace her dying old iPad 2!!

We've been having a look on Apple's website and have decided to go for the 9.7 inch screen iPad:

She mainly uses it just for web browsing and playing games here and there so don't really want the Pro versions as this will be overkill for her needs.

So a couple of questions:

1. I have the original iPad Air 2 (still working great and still pretty quick!). Is there much difference between this and the iPad pictured above?

2. I can't find ANY Apple branded iPad Smart cases (not the Smart cover which only covers the screen - I'm after the whole case) for this iPad - did Apple discontinue Smart cases and have just gone for providing Smart Covers only?

3. Are there ANY previous iPad models whereby the Smart cases will fit the iPad above?

Thanks in advance.
:)

The iPad Air 2 has a superior screen over the 2018 iPad. The iPad Air 2 is also thinner and lighter.

The 2018 iPad is faster, but not by as much as one might think.

OTOH, it’s a ginormous upgrade over the iPad 2 of course.

I was just tormenting myself over this last night. I have an 11” pro, and I love it, but I go between wondering if I really NEED that for my uses, and could go back to something more basic, OR if I wanna go to a 12.9 for the desk and mini for sitting on the couch. Like if the 11” is overkill already, and I could be more basic, why would I even consider a 12.9 and mini? It’s just what I do when I overthink...

I was really doing great with just the 6th gen, even come off a 12.9 2nd gen pro, but went to the 11” pro because it’s really my only “computing” device, and I felt like I wanted the best I could have. It’s a bit overkill for me, but it’s a gorgeous device for sure!

Part of me has also considered doing the Air 3 and a mini, so I could use the same pencil across both devices, and have something just a little more portable, but I do realize that going back to Touch ID and bezels would probably be a bit of a bummer - Face ID on this thing has me so spoiled - it’s even more of a difference than having it on my phone because I’m always gonna put my hands on my phone anyway; not so on my iPad if it’s sitting in the stand.

Guess I’m done rambling for now. Pretty sure I didn’t help at all. ;-p

If the iPad is meant to be your only computer, buy the Pro.

If you have a Mac and the iPad is not meant to be your main computer, buy the iPad or Air 3.
