I just downloaded Aqua Forest from the App Store for $7.99. Forget Super Monkey Ball. THIS shows the true power of the iPhone. Using the touch screen and the accelerometer, this physics "sandbox" game lets you play with all the elements (water, fire, gravity) to solve puzzles. I have no idea how this isn't the #1 selling game in the App Store. It doesn't have characters or music or sound effects, but it has a huge repeat-factor and can keep me entertained. (which is pretty much all I want in a mobile game) My only complaint is that when I create some really complex environments with fire, water, rocks, smoke, etc....the game's frame rate starts to lag. (maybe the iPhone can't keep up)

It's hard to explain what this game does, so just check out the video on the developer's site:

I couldn't care less for the game but I just wanted to comment on that part when you said "maybe the iPhone can't keep up". The Developer has to make sure that the host device DOES keep up. If it can't, then the dev should simply eliminate the elements that are holding it from keeping up. Instruments was made just for that.

No music and sound effects = no purchase by me. If the developer can't take the time to implement such a small bit of polish of even just sound effects, particularly when Apple has demos you can just rip the sound code from in a matter of minutes, then I won't spend any money. We need to make sure the quality of games on the iPhone meets some minimum requirements, or else we'll end up with a lot of cellphone crap rather than console-quality videogames.

While that is a nice game I'd have to say that Aurora Feint is the best one out there. And it's free.

I could have sworn there was music and sound effects on this app, are you sure your volume wasn't all the way down?

Well lucky for you it does have music and sound effects, you just read hater threads from people who didn't actually purchase the app. Good job. ^_^

As far as sound effects go, all the app's got is background music. The most wanted effect is materials motion sound effects, which is missing indeed. Unfortunately, the app lags badly when 2 or more materials are added to the scene. The app's gotta be updated and SOON.

That's my only big problem with that game, it needs to get on the jenny craig memory diet. Also, I wish there were more levels :p

Ah, yes. The "haters" such as the O.P. here:

Wait a minute...this is the worst 'hater' review I've ever read! Geez, it actually sounds like you bought it and enjoyed it. And here people are telling me you're a hater. I don't believe it.

For my money, Galcon has given me the most playtime of any iPhone game BY FAR. It's impossible to put down and a far better value than any $1 or $2 game I've bought.

Ok, based on that info I've corrected your comment (in bold) to what you actually meant.

Forgive me, but that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

The reason why I put people on there was because I have read a few reviews on the app store that were about how there was no sound during a youtube video that demoed the app, which means the app must not have sound in it.

As was mentioned, I was basing my statement on the OP who stated that the game had no music nor sound effects. It's not being a "hater" to have some standards about game polish; I just want the iPhone to end up as a real game system and not end up as a cell-phone crap game dumping yard. Doesn't matter how fun the game is, I won't buy it if it has neither music nor sound (thus I won't buy Labyrinth unless they add sounds in a future update).

It is good to hear that this game does have music at least, so that moves it into a game I would consider purchasing.

In my opinion though it's only wroth 5 bucks not 8, just because the levels will only take you a few hours to complete and then after that it's just messing around with the free play

So far, the only game that I keep playing again and again is Labyrinth. Truly amazing and challenging.
