I read a lot of scientific papers (physics papers - so text, equations, and relatively simple figures) and now that I have iOS 4 which can sync files with my computer, I'm looking for a solid PDF reader good for those types of files. Any recommendations? I'm looking into iBooks but have no idea how it'll be.

Its free, so give it a try. You have nothing to lose.

Well, that's the plan :) But I'm sure there's a ton of free PDF readers (or apps that can read PDFs) out there, and I'm wondering if anyone has experience and recommendations with some.

I'd recommend iBooks. It syncs with iTunes and works well. For free you can't go wrong with it.

I use "Files", which can handle most file types you throw at it. Supports filing structure as well - I have a couple of hundred pdfs stored.

iBooks? Goodreader says they have the best pdf reader for the iPhone because it can handle really really big (GB's) PDFs without crashing.

Goodreader used to be great in viewing large pdf files, however with os 4.0, goodreader is as slow as all the others.
