Well there's a bunch of things I can suggest. I'm not sure if you are into Bose, but you can test those out at bestbuy. Other than that, I would suggest looking at some sennheisers, shure, and possibly Bose if you are interested.

It's really hard to give solid advice on this since there are so many headphones.
If you check up the ratings on Amazon, they are generally pretty helpful

I have Bose and Sennheiser earbuds, which are both pretty good.

However, I, too am looking for something better which combines both comfort and excellence.

Friends & others have also strongly recommended Shure (in particular the 420 or 530) and more recently, the Thinksound Rain, and I'd certainly be interested in hearing feedback on the latter, or, indeed on any earbuds which any poster can recommend.

Cheers

you could also look into Bluetooth headphones, the audio jack on my touch has been wacky as of late so i bought a pair of stereo bluetooth headphones, they work great!!

ditto on Shure. I have the SE315 and they are great isolating headphones. Actually was surprised that I don't have to turn my iPod up all the way now to hear it. Without the EQ its even better. :)
