Guys - Given I do use video/facetime quite a bit (15-20 mins a day), I thought it'll be a good idea to get a case with embedded kickstand. How do these case quality compare with the genuine Apple silicone/leather cases? The top rated one seems to be one by Spigen. Main requirements are it should be slim & have a kickstand (magsafe is secondary). I need a case for both a pro max and a mini. Some reviews actually state the spigen protects the camera lens better than the apple cases

Thanks

I picked the Spigen Tough Armor Case to go with my 13 mini. The kickstand was not part of my consideration. I wanted something that was moderately robust, would lay flat on the desk, and would keep my screen and camera lenses off of rough surfaces. This case accomplishes what I was looking for quite well. It allows for a nice compromise between the waterproof cases I used in the past and the case-less experience I would prefer.

The kickstand is a nice little feature, but I would not consider the built-in kickstand to be very durable. It's a thin piece of plastic, that is going to wear at the snap enclosure and eventually become loose and break off after repeated use. I've used it to consume media from time to time, and it does the job just fine.

Using it for FaceTime calls, I'm not sure the angle of the camera is going to be great. Since this is something you are doing daily, I would look for a dedicated phone stand. I have a Lamicall stand that I bought for my iPad that lifts it off of the table top and tilts to any angle you need. They have a smaller version for the phone as well. Something like this might serve you better in the long run.

Spigen also has some dedicated kickstands and rings that would be a bit more robust than the built-in kickstand that would allow you attach them to the case of your choice.

Thanks for the detailed response ;)

Apart from the case, did you also get a separate screen protector & lens protector?

I thought about it for a while, and used the phone for a week or so without a screen protector. Then I decided that since I keep my phones for a long time, I opted to buy one. I found a full screen protector from Sparin for really cheap on Amazon. It came with lens protectors as well, but the fit of the Spigen case around the lens assembly is just a tad too tight for the lens cover. I eventually broke the lens protector while fussing with it, so the lenses are not covered at the moment.
