Best Laptops under $300.

Hey, I like to buy windows-based laptop for my wife so she can run some PC-based disks. Any recommnedations for laptops under $300?

I would go for a used Lenovo Thinkpad T420, T430 or a Used Dell latitude E6430 or E6440. Much more bang for your buck than a cheap new $300 Windows laptop.

Another vote for the used ThinkPad route. Stick to the X or T series and you'll be golden.

Why wouldn't you?

Definitely the way to go unless you specifically need new hardware for some reason.

VMs are great these days.

Would this also be a good option for someone who wants a windows computer to play steam browser games? It looks like the max RAM on these is 8GB and I am not sure how well that will work with an i3 or i5 CPU.

A secondhand Macbook. 7,1 models still can run High Sierra and take an SSD and 16GB RAM.
I'd know, I went bid-crazy on ebay and ended up with four Macbooks from 2006-2010 for about $300 total
