I have preordered https://www.bourgedesign.com.

I don't know if they are gonna deliver, but in paper its hell more attractive than Hyperdrive (Hdmi 4k@30 and additionally miniDP 4k@60, even if they don't work at the same time is just great). Wish it also had lan, but what can you do. And looks more attractive than Hyperdrive. Time will tell I guess.

...this takes two usbc ports (from ntmbp model it takes both thunderbolt3 ports that ntmbp has and offering only one back which only can be used to charge the laptop) and it takes both high-speed ports from the 13" tb model (offering only one back)...

I am not even sure what you are saying because of the confusing use of parenthesis.

The Hyperdrive uses up two USB-C ports and gives two back. One may be used for Thunderbolt 3 while the other is limited to USB 3.1 Gen 1. The Thunderbolt 3 port also allows up to 100w power in to charge the MacBook Pro.

For my "away from home" purposes, anything attached to a USB-C cable is not more attractive. For those that don't care about that, it looks like an "ok" device. For something like that to be useful to me at home, it needs 2 fully functional Thunderbolt 3 ports, better performing USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.

For me being able to cover both Hdmi and dp on a small footprint with one device is the most important. That being said, I agree that Hyperdrive is a really attractive offer. Looking forward to seeing both.

13" non-touch mbp has two thunderbolt3 ports. when you attach the adapter to this laptop, you are reducing those two ports to be only one thunderbolt3. only one of the two usbc ports of the adapter is a thunderbolt3 enabled port. and only that port can be used to charge the laptop. if you need thunderbolt3 (high-speed) and to charge your laptop, it isnt possible with this adapter. the other port in the adapter is reduced to usbc (gen 1 and only 5 gb/s) - this port cant be used to charge the laptop.

13" tb mbp has the similar situation, two of the thunderbolt3 (high-speed) are reduced to one when using this adapter. But because you can still charge your laptop from the right side, you still have a thunderbolt3 port on the left, but only one (because the adapter took both of them). i quess you can also flip the adapter up-side-down and connect it to the right usbc ports leaving high-speed tb3 ports free on the left side - but is the functionality still the same for each ports of the adapter? or does it work as intended only when attached to the high-speed ports? what happens when you attach it with two ports on the right side having reduced bandwidth?

Do you guys think the hyperdrive will fit on a MacBook Pro with an I-blason hard case?

I doubt it will, which is also one of the reasons why I cancelled my order before the campaign ended. The gap that the case will leave between the hyperdrive and the macbook pro would probably cause it to not be connected.

What about docking stations that isnt specificaly made for the MBP 2016, will they work? Like the Dell TB16 or the HP ZBook Thunderbolt 3 docking station?

My main concern has been finding one with proper power output, as I usually have multiple hard drives plugged in, and I've already read reviews on a couple of them that say they can't power too many things at once... Has anyone tried a hub/adapter without this issue?
