It would be helpful if you told us what your uses will be--I would make different recommendations based on your primary needs.

Depends what you are printing. If it's just documents then consider a laser printer, either colour or black and white. Be honest with yourself about needing colour as black and white laser printers are very cheap. they also outperform inkjets in every way and are much cheaper to run.

If you are printing photos then Epson and Canon make good printers. Not used other brands so can't comment. Personally I use an Epson P800, but that's fairly high-end and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they absolutely must have the ability to print at A2.

Best bet is to write down your requirements then look for printers that match these. Get a short list of them and then look at some reviews.

For light usage that doesn't require color, a laser printer is the better solution -- no messing with ink cartridges that dry up or clog up on you.

For light usage that involves some "color" that doesn't have to be as precise as "photorealistic", a color laser printer might be the way to go -- again, for the same reasons.

As to which laser, I've had excellent service from a Brother unit -- best printer I've owned.

It's probably worth paying a little more for a unit that has ethernet AND wifi connectivity these days...
