Hi

I am looking for a 2015 model macbook pro, 15", I7, 16Gb RAM and at least 500gb SSD

I am happy to by a refurb but as it will be very important to me I ideally want at least a 2 or 3 year warranty and very good to excellent

There seem to be quite a few specs even in this range

Any suggestions which is better for development ( processor etc )

Budget...I dont really want to spend more than £1400

Your advice much appreciated

That's going to be hard. The Apple warranty (without AppleCare) is just a year. 2-3 years means a 3rd party warranty and those can be both expensive and problematic.

At the moment there are no Macs (at all!) in the Apple UK Refurb Store, but I would recommend checking back there to find something in your budget. It may be difficult to find a 2015 MPB there though, but with Apple Refurbs you get not only the 1-year warranty but the option to purchase Applecare+, which for Macs is a total of three years.

Apple Care+ covers Macs for 3 years... and purchases from the Apple refurb site are eligible for AC+. No need to go third party for a 3 year warranty.

As I said without AppleCare you only have only one year from Apple (unless you extend it). If it is a refurbed unit not purchased from Apple you will need a 3rd party warranty.

No one said anything about a non-Apple source until this response. I was just clarifying that 3-year support was possible through Apple. Moving on.

Hi @smallzoo,

Have you looked at CeX? I bought a 2015 MBP 13" for my sister (8GB, 128GB SSD) last year from them, and everything they sell has a 2-year warranty, and it came in great condition and she's been very happy with it.
Is this the model you're after?

Except the OP is looking for a 2015 model. Were those still being sold recently enough that they would be on Apple's refurb site? It's doubtful Apple will have a 5 year-old model in the refurb store.

You won't find a 2 or 3 year warranty with a 5-year-old product.
This is not going to happen.

Having said that, you may be able to find a good 2015 MBP if you wait for the right one to show up. They're fine Macs, my 13" still works great.
