I was really disappointed we didn't get a new 27 inch iMac, and from the sounds of it, Apple isn't making one. The Mac Studio is great, but don't see spending that much for something that's going to be such overkill for me and for most users. I'll likely just wait for the newest Mac mini to be released and buy that with a new (non-Apple) monitor to replace my aging 27inch iMac. Can anyone recommend the best display that will look the closest to my 27inch iMac both in display quality, and also aesthetics? I don't want to spend $1000-1500 on a 5k display, so I'm guessing a 4k would be enough for me. Thanks

Can't beat LG Ultrafine. Dell Ultrasharps great options as well but don't have niceties like macOS brightness control.

Closest thing to the iMac 5K panel is Ultrafine 5K. If you're looking for 4K resolution, there are many option, but almost none of them will match the Retina resolution of your iMac.

Wait a few days/weeks, there are plenty of people who will upgrade to the Studio Display and will sell their Ultrafine 5K for a way better price than MSRP

Good point, I'll probably wait for the newest Mac mini anyway, assuming Apple comes out with ont. I use my iMac in scaled mode, so I'm wondering if I'll even notice a big difference if I switch to a 4k though.

I use the 27” LG 4K display, 27ul850-w, Great specs, certainly near retina quality, USB-C, vesa mountable, and only about $450. I used to have a 27 inch retina iMac, and I don’t notice the difference except slightly the brightness.

I'm really happy with my 32" LG Ultra 4K monitor. It's now discontinued, but based on my experience with it, I'd consider another LG if I needed one.
