Hello,

I need a MacBook for running Adobe Creative Cloud and possibly Reaper (for music recording/editing.)

I am price conscious, so don't want to overbuy. I know CC can be quite a memory hog, but other than that I am not really sure what the best would be.

What new MacBook or MacBook Pro do you recommend to the budget-conscious Graphic Designer?

You need at least a MacBook Air but I would recommend a Retina MacBook Pro. The MacBook is slower than the MacBook Air. It is difficult to recommend the MacBook Air if you have seen the Retina display from the Retina MacBook Pro or the MacBook. The (not Retina) MacBook Pro is a old that you shouldn't consider it.

I have the 13" Retina MacBook Pro but I wouldn't want to use it for heavy Adobe apps. Only a 15" Retina MacBook Pro is fast enough for almost any task. If you're on a budget and need a powerful Mac, than I would recommend a refurbished 15".

The 15" retina is an excellent option. To save some coin, consider buying a refurbished version from the Apple Store. The latest (2015) version refurb with storage amt you're happy with is a perfect machine.
