Should be fine, I work with my 13" 2.4/8gb/256gb which I use to run 2 VMs, Netbeans, Sublime Text, Photoshop, spotify, and web browsers and it runs smoothly.

C'mon what? You said you were off to purchase....
Yes I was but the last thing you want to do is buy a 1,100 computer and realise it won't suite your needs since that is the main reason you buy it....

Maxing out the 13" as some here have suggested makes zero sense from a price/performance ratio. Just as the best value of the Air is seen in the base iterations (w/possible RAM upgrade), the sweet-spot for its rMBP counterpart is clearly in the middle stock offering. To spend near or above $2000 specking up a dual-core 13" is insane when you can get the base 15" quad-core (Iris Pro) with far more power and capabilities for less than that. The 2.6 and 2.8 upgrades are miniscule and quite simply money wasters. PCI storage is amazing, but you're paying top $ for every extra storage level you go.
According to price/performance ratio the CPU upgrade is almost always the least favorite option.
First make sure about the Ram and storage.
First look at the RAM for the average user 8 gb ram might be enough in the most cases. unless you are really into video production but then you would know that you need more ram
Then you decide on the storage. Here it's really personal need and comfort if you want to put all your stuff on it like all your movies etc. mostly 256gb is enough , even if you have a 45gb logic x library (I don't exactly know how big such library can get). But you have always the option to expand the storage with external HDDs (with usb 3 or thunderbolt you have super fast transfer speeds )
So if your only concern is storage look for the 2.4 / 8 / 512 option ( don't know if it's in the refub store ) otherwise expand it with external drives for cheaper money!
