hello all,
I am new here,
I am looking for a good cleaning and securing application for my MacBook Pro(2017)
please advise me which do you think are the best app for MacBook Pro.

I am editing this post because I am also wanted a good antivirus for MacBook :)

thanks,
Daniel.

Basically, you don't need anything. Do not trust clean my Mac. I use App Cleaner to uninstall some apps, and duplicate cleaner for iPhoto to clean my photos. If you used to use Windows, Mac OS is much simpler and easier. I am not pro user, I might be wrong.

Avoid cleaning apps like the plague (ones which claim to speed up your Mac).

I'd recommend MWB for Mac as that gets rid of common PUPs: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac-download/

Remember that the best AV is the squishy thing using the computer. Be wary of what you're downloading/installing and where you're browsing.

If you really need to do a clean up, back up and reinstall your OS and applications and then work from there. Unless you are in a real mess - don't do it would be my advice. Applications to clean are too indiscriminate and Microsoft are said to be removing them from their systems.

Files left over after uninstalling an app are generally small and don’t have performance implications to leaving them in place so cleaning them up isn’t strictly necessary unless you’re experiencing a problem of some kind.

As for antivirus, I personally focus on the overall security risks for my system rather than believing that an AV program of some kind provides enough protection. I like using the free tools from objective-see.com (oversight to monitor webcam and microphone access and ransomwhere to monitor for potential ransomware), combined with a decent browser extension (e.g. uBlock with the malware and privacy lists enabled) and of course careful consideration of the apps I install and keeping up to date with security news.

Really they are all little more than malware and make your computer slower avoid them all. There are good ways of uninstalling apps to get rid of all files using terminal, so take a look on google and check them out.

I use avast antivirus its free small footprint and works well.

You don't need "cleaner" or "maintenance" apps to keep your Mac running well, and some of these apps can do more harm than good. Most only remove files/folders or unused languages or architectures, which does nothing more than free up some drive space, with the risk of deleting something important in the process.

These apps will not make your Mac run faster or more efficiently, since having stuff stored on a drive does not impact performance, unless you're running out of drive space. In fact, deleting some caches can hurt performance, rather than help it, since more system resources are used and performance suffers while each cache is being rebuilt.

Many of these tasks should only be done selectively to troubleshoot specific problems, not en masse as routine maintenance. macOS does a good job of taking care of itself, without the need for 3rd party software. Among other things, it has its own maintenance scripts that run silently in the background on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, without user intervention.

Five Mac maintenance myths

Macs are not immune to malware, but no true viruses exist in the wild that can run on macOS, and there never have been any since it was released over 16 years ago. The only malware in the wild that can affect macOS is a handful of trojans, which can be easily avoided by practicing safe computing (see below). 3rd party antivirus apps are not necessary to keep a Mac malware-free, as long as a user practices safe computing.

100% agree with this GGJstudios' entire post.

In addition, ask yourself what problem you're trying to solve and whether a "cleaner" is really the solution (I doubt it).

If you're running out of disc space then have a good tidy up (after making sure everything's backed up, just in case) - maybe think about investing in a beefy external drive if you think you need more storage. If you're not running out of disk space then stop worrying and enjoy your Mac!

If you have plenty of disk space but you're having performance issues then I'd be skeptical about whether a "mac cleaner" would solve that for you. I may be proved wrong, of course. Try researching the symptoms and see what comes up.

If I need to delete stuff then I like to be the one who decides what's going in the bin. I'd rather that than delegate the decision to an app - we may not agree on what's important!
