I recently bought a 16" MBP and I'm looking for a monitor sort of in the image of what Apple's Cinema Display used to be when they made that. Great looking design, all in one, webcam, speakers, thunderbolt, USB. I would buy the last model before they discontinued on eBay it if it was 4K. I need the 4K. Apple sells that very high end one but Steven Spielberg is not coming over the house to edit footage any time soon, so that one is a bit unnecessary. What is out there that is similar in appearance and functionality to the Cinema Display they used to make, but 4K? What do other people use?

Thanks.

It really depends on what you do. I have the UltraFine 27" and it's very nice. The bezels scream 1998 but otherwise everything else is pretty great. What I like most is (1) the brightness and quality of display (2) the support for Apple controls and the overall integration. For example, if you use your Mac with it, it will remember where everything was on the screen while connected to the display and when it's not. It will restore the configurations accordingly. This even applies to custom scaling which is awesome.

The only con -- price.

Apple, if you see this, I BEG you to release a proper Apple branded monitor for the rest of us. I'll buy it day one.

Check out Dell. They have a line of USB-C monitors that charge to 90W (close enough) and have integrated USB hubs. I'm running a 32" 4K model. A friend has the 49" model and loves it as well.

Dell U3219Q) UltraSharp 32-Inch (3840x2160) LED-Lit 4K Monitor
Dell U4919DW UltraSharp 49 Inch (5120 x 1440) 5K QHD Curved Monitor

The USB ports do great with Webcams, mouse dongles, and other accessories making it a really neat solution. Works perfect with my 16" and no kernel panics like w/ other setups.

I totally agree with you!
I am also desperately waiting for a release of an official new Apple Display with a reasonable price to invest in a new machine.
I intend buying a new Apple MacBook Pro in a very near future, but I am willing to do so only when this new display will be produced and released.
Seriously, I do not find myself plugging in my brand new machine with a non-Official Monitor...
As I said on a previous post (and on a different thread) I have nothing against the LG brand or another, but Apple Monitors are really something different. The Alluminium finish of Apple Displays match perfectly to every MacBook Pro and have that Premium look that other brands cannot offer. And well... the Apple Logo is a Must for every Apple lover!
I also hope Apple engineers follow the wishes on this forum and give us a very pleasant surprise for the Apple community. I am pretty sure that an Official Apple Monitor with a reasonable price would be a success in sales worldwide. On this forum only, there are plenty of users and prosumers waiting for that day to come.
I am willing to invest up to $2000 in an external monitor, but no higher than this amount (which would be already $500 higher than the LG Ultrafine 5K 27” Display). The Apple Pro Display XDR is way too expensive for my budget possibilities... and should be focused on Apple Mac Pro users only.

I would also buy an Apple branded display, for the same reasons. In the meantime, the Dell is better than nothing and the least compromising, at least for me.

True.
I prefer a Dell which looks correct but deliver near-Apple performance at a fraction of the price. The look doesn’t do anything important.
