Would anyone please recommend some good memory for this laptop? I tend to go with Corsair, but I can't find any 2GB sticks with CAS Lat. 7.

Any tried and true sticks out there?

Crucial is the way to go. I got 4 GB for my MacBook for $69.99. Best Buy wanted $119.99 for 2 GB of the same memory from Kingston.

I just installed this, only $60'ish

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but there seems to be a known issue with Crucial ram and the Unibody MBs. I have a 2.4 GHz unibody macbook and bought Crucial ram and started to have random crashes all over the place. I had some people take a look at my crash logs and they thought it was a memory issue, so I contacted Crucial and they replied with this:

Thank you for contacting us. We are aware that a small number of new Apple MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook owners are experiencing issues when trying to install 4GB of system memory into their notebooks.

As we continue to track this issue, it does not appear to be isolated to any single brand of memory module or component or to a particular revision of either of these.

Crucial memory undergoes rigorous testing both at the module level and at the system level. Crucial memory is qualified on systems from most original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). This includes extensive testing specifically on Apple MacBooks and MacBook Pros to ensure that the Crucial memory upgrades you receive are not only of the highest OEM quality, but guaranteed compatible. Our parent company Micron is actually one of the original memory manufacturers that Apple uses.

We will continue to monitor this issue and of course offer you any support that you require. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us by visiting http://www.crucial.com/support/help.aspx?tabid=sc3.

Please write your RMA number on the outside of your package and return the product to Crucial Technology within 10 business days.

I would still go with Crucial in the future. It just seems to be an specific isolated compatibility issue with these models.

The Unibody notebooks seem to have an issue with 3rd party RAM, and apparently have since launch:

Aluminum MacBooks unstable after 3rd party RAM upgrade

Apparently this was an issue when it first came out, but since there have been firmware updates that have fixed it. I don't see hardly any complaints for this post January 2009 when I search around.

I'll post my experience when I get my sticks tomorrow.

So I installed my new 4GB OWC ram and when I went to boot up my screen was black. Tried again, heard the computer come on and still nothing. Then it started beeping. I think I got some bad sticks.

:mad::confused:

My OWC 4GB RAM upgrade has worked just fine in my unibody MacBook. They also post a nice video showing the steps for installing the RAM. Very simple.

Just installed 4GB of Muskin ram and have not had any issues all day. I've used Muskin many times before, in Macs and PCs with no trouble at all.

I just put in an order for 4GB OWC Ram and i can't wait to get it!! :D

Add to that a 500GB WD, an airport express, and an apple remote and this has been a pretty expensive couple of days lol

I hope you don't get my two sticks and your machine starts right up.

Yeah let's knock on wood for that lol!

It was between Crucial and OWC for me.. they're priced about the same, but i had less of a hassle with OWC. AND overall it ended up being cheaper, so we'll see!! :D

tell me about it. I've bought an airport extreme (AWESOME router), 500GB mypassport, wireless mighty mouse, 4 GB of memory, and this macbook all within 2 weeks. But all good investments in my opinion, I've been very happy with all of these purchases (not sure about the ram yet, which comes today)

I've been a pc builder my whole life (have a core 2 duo/gtx280 setup in a lian li I built late last year). I bought an iphone earlier this year, and ever since, i've been maniacal about apple products. They offer a quality that can't be matched.
