am on holiday in the U.S, am leaving soon ,iphones are not sold officially
where i live and i really want one, whats the best way of getting a 3g iphone
without an at&t contract,, am thinkn

1) buy it on at&t, break contract afta a month, but an at&t rep tld me i'll have to pay 600$!!! for the fone plus the ETF 175$ plus the remaining bills

2) Ebay (never bought anytn on ebay b4 not too sure about authenticity)

or is anyone interested in selling a brand new 3g iphone????

You cannot buy one yourself without proof of residence. Obtaining one through a third party (ebay, craigslist posting) is your only option.
 
If you're careful Ebay is a decent way to go. I might make another suggestion though...If you are concerned about actually seeing the phone before handing over the money, check Craigslist in the area you will be visiting in the US. You can set up a meeting locally, view the phone and buy it then and there if it meets with your satisfaction.
