Best method to boot into Ubuntu?

I'll be installing 12.04.1 on mid 2012 11" MBA running 10.7.4.

You are correct. Make sure it's the x64 Ubuntu as the MBA won't boot it otherwise.

No, that's only if you're triple booting apparently.
