Hi everybody, looking for a bit of advice in setting up my Airport Express and TP-Link Modem/Router.

I'm using a combined modem/router. TP-Link TD-8840T (link to product page) (link to user manual)

Now the modem/router is not wireless, hence the Airport Express, but I want to know whether I should be using the TP-Link to do the routing or the Airport Express? I'm not a networking whizz, so I just plugged everything together and "it just works". Looking into it, the Airport Express is in bridge mode.

I don't know if I'm losing any functionality or wireless speed in the current setup and would appreciate any input with what steps to take, if any.

Thanks in advance.

I like to use a modem, for the modem part - and use the modem therefor in bridge mode. Just give me the Internet modem, thank you..

And then I like to use the router, for the router part - and connect my devices to the router (router isn't in bridge mode).

I have no experience with the airport express, except trying to fix it once for a friend of mine.

So i am merely sharing how I prefer to set things up at my home.

internet -> modem -> router -E iOS/macOS devices.

You need another router because the switch in back of of it are only 10/100! You need to get a more modern router from your ISP that has a Gigaport Switch in it!
