First off, let me say that I just received my MacBook 1.83 from Amazon a few days ago. Having no luck with multiple MBP's, I am happy to announce that this machine has so far exceeded my expectations and is running smoothly with only the slightest buzz/whine. With maxxed-out memory and a new hard drive it sings.

Now about that mouse - it's the Logitech v450!

I've been looking for the perfect mouse for a long time. Something responsive and ergonomic for prolonged design work, yet small enough to travel with. Until today, my mouse of choice was the Logitech MX1000. Very fluid and precise, but bulky and awkward to travel with due to the charging dock/USB receiver. After repeated trips to every store in town (Apple, Best Buy, CompUSA) looking for something to catch my eye and melt in my hand, today I found what appears to be the little brother of the MX1000 - the Logitech v450. Funny thing is I don't think it has even been released yet! After eyeing it at the store I went home to research it a bit only to find relatively little about it. No reviews anywhere - just a few press teasers. The Logitech site has it listed, but it says "notify me" where the price should be and there currently aren't any drivers listed for it.

Anyway, if you have been looking for a new portable mouse I strongly suggest you wait until this baby is officially released. It is decidedly more comfortable than Logitech's bluetooth v270, possessing great side and finger contours, and a nice rubbery finish to the sides. It has a laser sensor with excellent tracking (I've had to lower the tracking speed to the second level to keep up!). The best part is that it is advertising a battery life of 1 year! Now there is no way this is possible, but if it comes anywhere close to 6 months I would be thrilled. It also comes with a miniature USB dongle that fits into the mouse for travel purposes. I couldn't be happier with this mouse.

awesome thanks that's pretty much exactly what I've been looking for too!

no extra side buttons, but I'm sure I'll learn to live without them, seeing as how I've been surviving without any mouse for a couple of months now (since my mx510 stopped working...)

thanks for the review. i was looking at this mouse too but had one question. does the scroll button allow you to go backwards and forwards when browsing in safari? i couldn't find an answer anywhere. that would be very cool. thanks again.

Yeah, I just picked it up myself...It is pure joy to work with. I have the MX1000 and this is definitely its little brother.

Its a kind of mouse that only a mother (the mouse's mother) could love. I recommend it for the uglyist mouse in the world award.

The little USB dongle thing bothers me... Too bad they didn't make it Bluetooth.

Bluetooth or bust, IMO. Looks comfortable though.
