I am interesting in trying a news app for the iPad. (paid or unpaid) Which do you think is the best? Yes, I realize that you can get news on through Safari but I have a wifi iPad and I like the way you can load the news and the read it later when you are not in a wifi area.

Interested in hearing your suggestions. If it's a paid app, how much is a subscription? Thanks!

May I recommend pulp, it really makes the news reading experience much more intuitive in a Mac-like way and the interface is gorgeous!!!

USA Today, CNN, and Reuters News Pro are my three favorites and they're all free...

I'm kind of digging The Daily, I signed up for NY Times yesterday and not sure I'm going to keep it... I really like how the daily has embedded videos in news stories, they have interactive features as well..

Yes, the NY Times has a video section but it's not the same as having the video embedded in the actual story..

I'm still trying to decide but as of now leaning towards The Daily...

You really can't beat the Daily unless you want something free.

My biggest news apps are Pulse and Flipboard (not really a news app, but it can be configured to be one).

Daily is the best so far. For free, News 360 beats them all IMO. If you want custom news along with twitter integration, FlipBoard does that well. Pulse does same as FB but is far slower on the iPad.

CNN, BBC apps (they are free). But I prefer to subscribe for couple interesting resources and read RSS without any apps :)

Now, I'm leaning towards keeping the NYT.. upon further investigation the NYT updates new stories throughout the course of the day so far from what I can tell The Daily does not, it has the same stories all day long until the next day.. As much as I love the embedded video I love the constant updating by the NYT..

Try going to abcnews.com on safari. the whole site is optimized for tablet use and has lots of embedded videos. works very well on iPad.

+1 for USA Today and CNN. I also like Pulse because it's so pretty to look at, but it takes FOREVER to load up.

Check out FLUID, it's basically a better version of Pulse. I use that and MobileRSS for my RSS feeds. I rarely use the actual news apps now.

Agreed. NYT is a very solid app
