I haven't tried Zite yet, but I am loving Flipboard. Especially the way it turns twitter feeds into useful information.

I like the combination of Zite, Reeder and Instapaper. I also send news links to Instapaper through Twitter.

Since it's free I'm going to give News 360 a try as well.

I just tried Flipboard and Zite. I think Flipboard is better, it's easier to configure for specific sites like Engadget. It also loads faster, Zite is taking 7 seconds in my iPad 2. I also like the Flipboard interface, it works just like iOS for moving topics around.

One slight negative of Flipboard that I see is only 2 pages for a total of 21 news feeds. Granted that is a lot, but I would like more.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the program Flud. It's like Pulse but honestly, it's a better version of the app since it has more topics to break out and a slightly nicer interface.

I'm kind of digging The Daily, I signed up for NY Times yesterday and not sure I'm going to keep it... I really like how the daily has embedded videos in news stories, they have interactive features as well..

Yes, the NY Times has a video section but it's not the same as having the video embedded in the actual story..

I'm still trying to decide but as of now leaning towards The Daily...

Is the the NYT not free. I thought it read free in Apple store.

NYT is my favorite, but I won't pay $20 a month for it. At least the top news section will remain free.

I also use:

USA Today
Washington Post (supposed to go paid as well sometime--interface stinks compared to NYT app, but content is good)
AP News
NPR (love making playlists of just the show segments that interest me)
BBC
Politico
The Hill

For aggregators I use Flipboard and Zite like most here. I have Pulse as well, but don't use it as much.

It is free, but it's going paid in a day or two. $20 a month.

The top news section will remain free, but you have to pay for full access to all sections. The website will also no longer be free. You get access to 20 articles a month for free, but otherwise need to subscribe.

I tried to mention it, but I'm an idiot and called it Fluid. FLUD is def my favorite right now. MobileRSS is also great, it's like Reeder, but gives you a thumb image in the preview section.

I like Flipboard very much, but for skimming news quickly, it's not ideal. Flipping through page after page of articles like a newspaper sorta negates the advantage of digital news. OTOH for catching up with friends' posts on Facebook, it's great.

My main gripe with Fliboard is that it's fed by Twitter only. No RSS. So if you add a blog to Flipboard, you may or may not be getting every new article on the blog. For many sites, Twitter is used to broadcast just the most popular stories.

I actually like flipping through the pages, but I'm kind of old fashioned I guess.

I never got much into websites of newspapers etc. as just seeing headlines doesn't do much for me as I'm not going to click on a bunch to see more details.

I like flipping pages, reading the first few sentences of articles and using that to decide whether to read the article just like I would with a real newspaper or magazine.

Ahh. I didn't notice that :)

Yeah FLUD is a great app and far superior to Pulse IMO....and I think Pulse is pretty cool.

I would say my favorite is Zite but they're all cool. For the most part I have similar set ups on all of them so Flipboard, Pulse etc all give me the same news but Zite tends to find those tidbits plus more.

For RSS I use The Early Edition which I paid 0.99 for....it's a pretty cool news aggregator although with all the other content out there for free it's not really something you need to pay for.

Reuters New Pro is probably the best in terms of wealth of free content. They have a very good app and provide the most news.

The Daily is great too....and I may acutally spring the 39.99 for the year.

If you are an RSS junkie, MobileRSS HD FREE is the best free app out there. The UI is derived/stolen from Reeder and Twitter. This app has a small ad on the bottom, which shouldn't bother all but extreme ad-phobic users.

If you don't care for ads, Reeder for iPad ($4.99) is the best RSS reader I've used. One of the first things I noticed is just how fast the app feels. The second thing is its minimal UI. It is really quite elegant and works similar to built-in Photos app, utilizing two finger gesture for navigating between feed groups, individual feed, and articles.

If you prefer aggregated news app, Zite (free) is the app that I am keep going back to. The UI is less flashy than Flipboard but more functional and customizable.

Zite have been handed a cease and desist order from a whole bunch of big publishers, as the app displays then full article in the stripped down article format (free of ads). I absolutely love this app and really hope the service doesn't get shut down by publishing companies unwilling to embrace the future.
