As an American, I can barely tolerate our News Channels, then again, thanks to PBS, and some digital sub-channels, I have started watching RT, which is quite insightful, and shows the news from a non-US point of view. I also watch the CBC, and enjoy the Canadian bent as well. Otherwise, I'll stick with local news.

I agree and think that RT and Al Jazeera offer interesting non-Euro/non-West foci, once you distill the propagandic component.

I always watched the CBC during my uni years, as they showed curling on weekend mornings.

I do find the German news shows good for my German, but it's not always the most global

TBH, I really like the style, presentation and crazy french interviewers on Euronews, not necessarily the content.
All news channels no matter what the agenda will embellish a story for ratings and draw out a breaking news story for 10 hours. I don't want talking heads I want real news and if there is no news don't say anything.

The whole 24 hour news format is for entertainment only.

Your comment is somewhat ironic, because Euronews actually got rid of all talking heads for 10+ years (no news desk, so to speak).

So what do they do the rest of the time when there is no news to report?

they don't have a desk (I did include a link in the FP).

all stories are voice-over only, i.e. no presenters (currently, it's alternating between male and female voice as well.) they also have "no comment," which is slightly edited video with no voices (only raw sound)

I assume that allows simulcasting in 11 languages much easier.

It's an interesting concept.

Occasionally, they have an expose that does have an interviewer, and they have some really crazy French guys for some of the "arts" stuff.

I really like CNN. I have watched all big 3 in the US, and I don't really see much bias in CNN.

I find CNN unwatchable. From their way too much reading tweets, to branding every damn segment to over the top graphics to inane news readers.

I only watch from 5-8 Central. John King, Erin Burnett(kinda bad), and Anderson Cooper(love his show).

I don't see much of that, though the times where it's on in the daytime, I see where you're coming from.
