Unfortunately because of some tendonitis problems, the gigantic cinema displays Apple sells exclusively now really aggravate my arm to use all day.

So I would like to find something (Samsung, Eizo, Dell?) that is really high-end, not glossy, great for a graphic designer, great in conjunction with a MBP, and no higher than 1600 resolution. Any recommendations?

Check out the Dell Ultrasharp line. U2311 if you want 16:9 and U2410 for 16:10. Price jumps quite a bit though when moving up to the 24".

I would urge you to avoid Dell. Their quality is highly variable and if you get a bad screen you will go through hell getting it replaced. HP zr24w or LP 2475w or any NEC monitor is a good choice. Except for the NEC EA241 which is a TN panel but priced like an IPS panel. A great deal on an NEC is the EA231. Its a 23 but half the cost of most 24's of the same quality level. I bought one at Amazon for $264.
