Hi,

what's the best tool to save webpages for offline use? My use case: Save webpages of news sites before they go behind a paywall (meaning they have to be fully downloaded or stored as pdf)

Safari Reading List: Does not seem to work (as of right now? I am on the Big Sur Beta)
Pocket: Advertised as premium feature (subscription)
Alternative: Manually save to pdf

Is it not offline, bit a lot of people use archive.is for what you described.

Nice, I'll save this for permanently bookmarking pages. For saving newspages it should be quicker than manually exporting the page as pdf to a folder in icloud. Wish there was an extensions that did just that: Export pdf (reader view) to a specified folder with 1 click of a button.

Firefox allows you to save complete webpages to your local drive. Also, you could use wget on the command-line to download entire sites.
