My iPod is starting to bite the dust and it's very old. I am asking those of you who might know, what would be the best bang for the buck older iPhone for using strictly as a music player, probably 64 or 128 GB. Other suggestions would work too if an Andriod device fits the bill.

The problem with iPods are the battery. It's almost impossible to replace the battery in an iPod Nano or Shuffle. But to answer your question, any older iPhone would suffice as long as the battery is okay and it's in good working order. It might be harder to find an older iPhone with 128 GB though.

Thanks, good suggestions, anyone know much about the iPhone 7 as I see those at decent prices and can get up to 128 gb.

An iPhone 7 would be okay as long as you can find one at a decent price with a good battery and still in working order.

Imo better just get a new cheap Android with an SD card slot.
Pros over a used old iPhone:
- new battery
- larger battery (most Android have at least 4000-5000mAh battery, at least more than double than any of the older iPhones)
- many recent models have Bluetooth 5 already. iPhone 7 is still only Bluetooth 4.2. Bluetooth 5 opens up many TWS buds options.
- SDcard slot, so you can copy your music from PC easily, and more capacity.
- and a headphone jack! Most cheap Android still carry a headphone jack.

Take the Moto G Power. 5000mAh battery, SD slot supporting up to 512GB card, Bluetooth 5.0, for $180 (assuming you’re in the US). You can then buy a cheap SD card to add however amount of storage you need.

SE1 or 6S, because they have a headphone port.
If you don't need a direct 1/8" connection, then use whatever iPhone you have.
