Best option for me: iMac or MacBook Pro? Please read below

Hi! I've been using my iPad Pro 12.9" for the vast majority of my computing needs but for work have been using my rMBP. It's getting a tad sluggish and i'm looking at getting a new mac option. I'm waiting for the new Macs to be released but i'm debating between selling my current macbook pro and getting the new redesigned macbook pro with an external monitor, or keep my macbook pro and get an imac. With work i'll always need a computer on the go which is very rarely so my rMBP now would more than suffice.

Summary: Sell rMBP and get new rMBP with monitor or keep rMBP and get iMac.

If you need more power then an iMac is the way to go, and keep your MacBook. But like they said, your MacBook shouldn't be sluggish and a new one isn't going to be that much more powerful.

Since your current rMBP is sufficient enough for your on-the-go needs, I think you should go for the iMac.
