Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on where I should purchase a 256GB SSD for my 2013 MBA? I purchased the 128GB SSD version and have regretted it ever since. Thanks.

I'm afraid there aren't any upgrade options available at this time.
Hoping for one down the line!

Have you looked for an OEM one on eBay?

No not yet. I'm having trouble finding a part number and I haven't opened my laptop to check yet.

No one sells aftermarket SSD's for the 2013 MBA. Only 2012's and down

Sorry, I assumed that the 2012 MBA uses the same SSD technology as the new 2013 models.

This is what I'm planning to use.

    I like this one:
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=baseqi

It's an adapter for micro-SD cards (not included, get an appropriately sized yourself). After putting a micro SD card in, you slide it into the MacBook Air its SD card slot, where it sits flush with the outside of the notebook.

I've got a 64 gig micro SD card in there, with my iTunes library on it. Good stuff. Not affiliated with the seller or the maker, just a happy customer.

Note that this is basically a knockoff of the Nifty MiniDrive, but much cheaper and readily available.

That eBay link is no longer working. Do you have another? And we should get a high speed class card right for better performance?

Hmm it works for me... It's a link to a search results page. Does this link work?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/HiddenSuit-...ory_Card_Readers_Adapters&hash=item2ecb02dbba

Otherwise, manually search on eBay or Google for the words "HiddenSuit MicroSD".

The SD caard reader is hooked up to the USB 3 bus. That's fast enough to make the speed depend exclusively on the Micro-SD card.

I found one on ebay for my Mid-2012 Air for around $300. The 256 is a rare find for these models at the moment and I'm sure with the recent SSD failures any drive might be rare to find.

Bought a refurb 256 gb MBA from Apple last week. LOVE this machine!

Anyway, bought this from Amazon last week. Another adapter similar to the nifty mini drive, cost $20.

    I also bough this:

The Fit is pretty small, bought the 32 gb at Best Buy for $50 or so. Played movies off of it, seems to have good access time, no issues.

    Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem. The 128GB model just wasn't enough.

I did some research and settled on the 128GB PNY StorEDGE for my 13" Haswell MBA.

I ordered from newegg.ca but it was available at various places for around 140$ (PNY also has a 20$ mail in rebate going until the end of Nov)
The drive goes in the SD slot and is nearly flush with my macbook air.

I moved my entire iTunes music and video library to this card as well as my photo library.
I haven't done any official speed tests but reviews online rated it much higher than standard Micro SD,SDXC, or USB drives.
It also always stays mounted even after waking from sleep (which my current external HDDs do not)
Oh, it also had a full 128GB of space available.

    Hope this helps.
