I had planned to buy from Best Buy (reward zone points), but the website shows it's not available today.

I plan to use the Next plan. I know that Apple has stock, but didn't check AT&T yet. I work until 3.

Any advantage to one over the other?

Best Buy usually doesn't display its store stock of LTE iPad.
If they have stock of the WiFi, they have stock of the LTE.
I learned that with the 12.9" version.
You should call or visit the store if it is close enough.

I always buy from Apple as I think they have the best customer service and are very easy to deal with if you have any problem with the device or just want to return it.
Wouldn't an LTE version have a restocking fee no matter what?

I don't see why. You can buy an iPhone on Next at the Apple Store, so why not the iPad?

I would call and ask them. New phones on Next keep you under contract. iPads would not. No incentive for AT&T to give a break on the iPad unless you did a nice fat data plan for a year or two.

Apple Education Store online, save $20 and do store pickup to your closest Apple Store.

Best Buy's site worked for me to add to cart and a bunch of stores around me have stock as well based on the store pickup option.

Outside of those 2 places, a carrier store is likely to be the only other retail outlet to make a purchase in store.

Next is the lowest out of pocket. That's the method I prefer to use. I have the cash, but I prefer Next.

Let us know how it goes, would be thrilled to hear you can buy with next not from At&t.
Well, I called the store, but ended up talking to an Apple at home advisor. She says the store can't do Necr on the iPad, but I'll know for sure in a few hours when I go there.

The mall has Apple, Best Buy, and AT&T in close proximity.

I believe you have to get through AT&T in order to get the next program. But with that don't you have to set it into a 2 year contract also?

No you do not. 2 year contract is $779 with a $45 activation fee. Next is tax down and $15 activation fee. Around $55/month for 20 months.

Okay, I wasn't sure how that worked (I was truly wondering lol!) But that way are you stuck on adding a data plan monthly to it also?

Apple Store is NOT able to do Next on iPads. Best Buy and the AT&T Store can, but no one had anything but 32GB in stock.

Oh well, I guess I don't get one today. 🙁
