Ah, now it makes sense. :) Thanks.

The people paying much prices are international buyers who have a harder time getting their hands on 1. I ended up with an extra and sold it for $800 to someone in Kuwait. Of course after paying Paypal, ebay fees I only ended up with something like 685... ebay is out of control with their rates these days... especially with their double dip via Paypal (ebay owns Paypal).

eBay didn't charge me anything for selling my 38mm space grey for $680. PayPal did charge $19, far from the 10% that I'm hearing. Looks like I can sell up to $6000 on eBay before the fees kick in.

Craigslist, and meet in a branch of your bank. That way the whole thing is on camera, you can have the teller check the bills, and you can deposit the cash before you walk out the door (so you're not known to be carrying $700+). If the buyer balks, run.

They don't bill you off the top. They send you a bill at the end of the month. You currently owe them $68 bucks that they will collect later. Check your account. You'll see the seller fee located somewhere in there, they don't make it easy to find.

I'd recommend Craigslist. I've sold a few high value items on eBay with no problems, but man, if you just google eBay Paypal scam etc. you will see so many horror stories it just freaks me out. It seems so easy to get scammed of your item.

The chances of getting fake cash are much less likely, IMO. I sold my 42mm space grey for $650 (sealed), wasn't planning on selling it and was gonna return it but someone offered how could I say no?!

CL it!

You could have gotten over $1000 for the same watch on eBay. Even after fees, that is a better deal than CL.

I eBay used stuff all the time, been doing it for 15 years. I also buy a bunch of used stuff (never new, though). I've run into problems with PayPal etc, but overall I find it pretty hassle free. I also used CL, but it is almost always a hassle -- maybe it is the people in my area.

I was thinking about selling mine when I get it (42 SG) so I can get the 42 SB. And selling the SB link bracelet and just getting a BSB. Way too many process involve. Argg.

I looked at using CL to sell a spare watch. I swear, I just don't think I can handle the crazy factor.

I'm returning the spare to Apple.

Swappa.com, you may not get quite as much as you could on Craigslist, but it's a very good marketplace with low fees and easy transactions, plus you don't have to deal with all of the loonies you get with Craigslist.

If anyone wants to sell a watch to another Macrumors member, my wife and I have had our orders "Processing" for quite some time. Message me for an easy transaction. If not, no big deal. Thanks!

I will be putting up my Space Black 42mm on Craigs List, unopened when it arrives. I just kinda lost interest with the wait. I will sell it for what it cost me.

LOL! You must be new on eBay cause there is no doubt they will charge for the sale. They will charge it against your credit card with out a doubt!

yeah, you're going to owe them the money on that sale. you probably got up to $6000 of LISTING FEES for free, so no posting, picture, auction, buy it now fees, but they don't really charge those fees anyway.

they just take 13% off the top (10% for the sale INCLUDING any shipping charge) and roughly 3% for the mandatory paypal transaction (although it could be more like 4.5-5% if it is an international buyer)

Yeah, I agree. I posted the two 42mm Milanese watches I bought from Maxfield on eBay, listed them at the retail price I paid for them for a 3-day auction, and the bidding shot both up to over $1500. Who am I to argue.

I ended up making over $1500 for both, so the eBay/PayPal fees were nothing, compared to the uncertainty of selling locally. I have never had a situation with PayPal where they didn't make me whole in the event of a bad deal. They've held my money up before, but waiting a couple of weeks to get the money I didn't have before is no big deal.

I like CL myself but there are a few basic steps to ensure eBay is relatively safe. The worst part for me with eBay was the 10% fee they take. Then having Paypal hit me for another 3%.

CL is 0% fee's!

In front of an Apple store.

HAHA,

I remember many years back when those talking Elmo's were THE Christmas present. People hanging out in front of Toys r us/Walmarts, with bags that they would open up a little as you walked by saying, "Talking Elmos, I got em".

it was like Christmas Crack deals.:D

You can sell your Apple Watch to buybackworld. They have an Apple Watch trade in program that pays cash without any peer to peer selling.

Gazelle was supposed to have a program as well, but I do not see it.

If you want to try peer to peer selling, there is always ebay, CL, amazon, bonanza.
