Can anybody offer up some info on how Minecraft runs? I'm in the market for a new computer, and the Air is one of the ones I'm considering. Obviously "ability to run Minecraft" is relatively low on the priority list since the computer is primarily for school use, but it'd still be good to know. Thanks in advance!

Not well - about 25fps, fans go crazy as with presumably most games. It feels sluggish and isn't fun. It'll probably do if you have nothing else, but quite seriously: The MB Air is not a computer for games. (And yes, I love my Macbook Air and think it's the coolest most awesome notebook I ever owned.)

Well, considering I currently play Minecraft on a 2006 C2D iMac, I can't imagine it getting much worse. I'm not looking into buying a laptop for games. I'm looking for a laptop for schoolwork that can run Minecraft on the side. Thanks for the heads up that it doesn't work too well. Would I be any better off with the 13 inch cMBP? Those are really the two computers that I'm looking at. Can't afford any of the more expensive ones...

Call of Duty 4 runs fantastically.

If it runs CoD 4 well, then that one poster that had Minecraft running poorly has got to be an anomaly. Minecraft is way less intense than CoD. I'm seeing a lot more "gaming works" than "it doesn't" as far as this thread goes. Good to know :)

It shocked me how well it runs. Runs better than my old laptop with an i3 at 2.4Ghz and a 1GB dedicated graphics card.

Anyone who says Minecraft was poorly running was either lying or talking about the initial load.

This is bullcrap, mine runs minecraft at minimum 50fps and averages 55fps

Minecraft runs fluidly on my iPad 3 which is far weaker than a MacBook Air 2012 (it's the pocket version, but it's getting closer and closer to the "real".)

It doesn't matter if the creator's purpose with a given machine is to play games or not, if games work they work, and clearly many do, and then you can make it your purpose to play them.
