Whats a good portable mouse to carry with the MacBook Pro 15”? Magic Mouse?

Depends on your needs. The Logitech MX stuff is really good https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/mx-anywhere-2s-flow?crid=7, the Magic Mouse is overpriced flash, there's a Microsoft mouse that works fine https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/products/mice/microsoft-modern-mouse. All these connect straight to the Mac, so no dongles required.

So depends if you need a scroll wheel, how many buttons, budget etc. I'd highly recommend the Logitech personally, you can probably grab an older one for a lot cheaper if you shop around - they didn't add anything worthwhile with the '2' versions imo.

Honestly? Sounds like you're new to the MBP. Just give the trackpad a chance. I, personally, don't use mice anymore because Magic Trackpads are just so much better and more useful. YMMV tho.

I see more and more magic trackpads replacing the standard mice on the iMacs around me. I may follow this trend as the trackpad has become so intuitive, especially on the more recent MBPs where I find myself using the side of my 'space-bar' thumb to quickly move the cursor around so that my fingers stay with the home keys.
