My current printer a Canon Pixma G3420 (ink tank) is no longer compatible with the latest Tahoe MacOS, and Canon (in their wisdom) are not releasing an updated driver - typical! Hence I'm looking for another multifunctional printer/brand which offers the ink tank system with duplex printing capabilities. Any recommendations most welcome! (P.S. I tried the range of Gutenberg drivers without success.)

It's interesting you want ink tanks and duplex printing. That combination usually leads to less than desirable (see-through effect) results, not to mention the ink costs.

Brother sells this duplex color inkjet:

Or a duplex color laser printer:

Regardless of your choice, once you add a Brother printer to your network your Mac will see it with no driver install needed. It's pretty seamless.

I have been using a multi-function Canon color laser printer since 2015 and it still works fine with my Mac. I don't need to load any Canon-specific drivers.

I don't use it to send faxes over the network and I scan to a USB stick because it's cumbersome to scan over the network to a computer. But printing, copying and the other features have been fine for ten years, including printing from iPhone.
