Best printer w/ rebate

There are so many to choose from! Has anyone got any insight/experience with any of the ones eligible for the (US store) rebate?

I will be doing quite a lot of black and white printing and scanning in both B&W and colour, but photo printing isn't really a priority. I'd rather get the best black and white printer I can at the expense of the other features if it came down to a choice like that.

I would also like to know what printer is the best with the rebate since I'll be ordering a macbook with the back to school promotion next week.

With the new online filing process, I've heard people say they've been getting them in 1-3 weeks. Pretty amazing, if you ask me.
