So I have a 500GB iMac and I want to upload my CD's at the best quality...the thing I realized about Apple Lossless is that it takes up a crapload of space,

I decided 320kbps will be fine...but there are many options to uploading at 320kbps...is this the best option for uploading at 320 on iTunes?

MP3 or AAC?

aac offers better quality compression than mp3 at the same bitrate. Go aac if you can.

So the picture to the right?
Is that the best 320 kbps I can get out of AAC?

Because I can select other options as you can see...

Use HE?
Channels Auto?
44.100 kHz?

I don't know if I need to adjust any of these?

And other than file size is there a big difference between what I'm about to do and Lossless?

Do the right and turn VBR off.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Alright thanks man.
Yeah I always heard VBR was better but I unchecked it.

Can you notice a difference between Lossless and 320?

I suggest you listen for yourself. Rip a few and see what you hear. There are people who claim to hear a difference. For me and my music I stoppped hearing a difference around 192. Uncool to admit but there it is. As long as you keep your cds you will have the lossless copy.
