I did search first and read a couple threads about recording apps. However, most people said they were using them for lectures or interviews, things of that nature, where the atmosphere is relatively quiet, and what you are recording is the dominant sound.

Is there anyone who can share their experience about which recording app is the best quality when recording a concert, or something in a live show atmosphere? I’m going to see a stand up comic next week, and I’d like to record some of it if possible (the comic has stated in the past that he doesn’t care if people record the shows, so no ethical arguments needed please), but it’s probably going to be a relatively loud atmosphere, and I will probably be 15-20 rows from the stage.

Unfortunately I can’t really download a bunch of apps and try them out since it’s a hard atmosphere to recreate for testing purposes. Has anyone had better results with some apps than others when recording loud atmosphere things?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't think that the app itself is as important as the quality of microphone. I'm not really sure if there is a good add-on stereo condenser mic for live recordings yet, but from what I understand this is one of the features of 3.0. No matter which app you use now, it will be limited to the quality of the mic itself.

yeah i think pretty much any differences in software can be ironed out later in post-production. the mic is key here.
