Best Shopping cart plugins?

I'm just setting up a site and have been exploring the shopping cart area. I just need something simple to allow items to be selected, added to a basket and then a secure payment (paypal, worldpay etc).

Does anyone know of any they'd recommend? There seem to be a number out there which charge monthly flat rates - not sure if this is the standard method?

You could always just use Paypal - http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/xcl/rec/sc-intro-outside

Its a little clunky because you will bounce back and forth between sites.
